About Jim Hurley
I decided to become a lawyer to help people. After receiving my undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, I graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in 1990. I received my degree Cum Laude and finished 10th in my class of 143. I am licensed to practice law in all appropriate Courts.
I have practiced law since 1991. Since 1993, I have helped people that have been injured in motor vehicle accidents.
During my career, I have tried approximately 100 jury trials as well as being involved in hundreds of litigation matters that settled before trial. Not only have I litigated these cases, I also spend extensive time with my clients to prepare them for trial. As a trial lawyer, it is one of my most important jobs to be sure my client understands the litigation process so that they can tell the juries their stories of how their injuries changed their lives.
Besides these jury trials, I have tried hundreds of cases in front of various Judges in Virginia. I have tried and argued cases both in State and Federal Court.
During the last few years, I have narrowed my practice to almost exclusively representing people that are injured in auto, truck or motorcycle accidents.
I am a member of American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Virginia State Bar Association and Norfolk and The Portsmouth Bar Association.
At the Hurley law firm, our job is to take care of all of our clients legal needs when they are injured in a car, truck or motorcycle accident. Our clients job is to get better from the injuries that they suffered in these accidents.
About Kevin Studer
A 1984 graduate from Norfolk's Maury High School I joined the United States Marine Corps where I was the Honor Graduate from Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. I served our country for 6 years reaching the rank of Sergeant and received two Naval Achievement Medals for my honorable service. I also played Receiver and kicked on two Marine Corps Championship Football Teams. My legal background was formed during this period of my life. I was a 4421/Legal Services Specialist for the Corps. I served as a court reporter, typed wills, power of attorneys for deploying Marines and a myriad of other legal support work. My final duty station was Marine Corp Base, Camp Elmore in Norfolk, where I served as the Battalion Legal Chief for the Command. My job responsibilities included overseeing Investigations for FMFLant.
In 1989 I started Gold Star Investigations and Security, a private investigative firm in Norfolk. My firm specialized in finding "HARD TO FIND" people and cases that other PI firms did not take. I served subpoenas and even tried my hand a repossessing vehicles. I provided Concert Security for Legend Entertainment. It was during this time that I realized being an Investigator was what I wanted to do.
In 1992 I was hired by a law firm as a Personal Injury Investigator. I spent the next 14 years honing my skills as an investigator by helping people who had been hurt in cases ranging from Motor Vehicle Accidents to Railroad Accidents. I am responsible for all the investigative duties at the Hurley Law Firm. These duties include meeting with our clients, talking with potential witnesses, taking pictures of motor vehicle wrecks and scenes, reviewing police reports and locating any available insurance coverage's that will help our clients with their cases. At the Hurley Law Firm we pride ourselves on our clients being able to talk with us. I have built upon the foundation of my education and investigative background that was started in the United Staes Marine Corps by going back to school and pursuing my Associate of Science degree at Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, VA. I graduated Suma Cum Laude.
