Another school bus driver appears to be at-fault in a crash that left the driver of a car injured.

The latest accident occurred in Currituck County in North Carolina (NC) on Jan. 26, 2012. According to WAVY.com police said the bus was dropping off students from Jarvisburg Elementary School when the driver failed to yield at the intersection of Spot Road and Route 168, leading to a personal injury accident in which the car hit the side of the bus.

Investigators said the car driver Jeff Wilson, was transported to Norfolk’s Sentara hospital for treatment on a broken arm and other injuries. A seven-month-old baby in the car was transported as a precaution. There were four students on the bus but no injuries were reported.

As experienced Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA school bus accident injury attorneys, we are concerned at a spate of recent accidents involving school buses. The drivers have been to blame in a number of instances.

In December, 2011 our attorneys reported on two school bus accidents in one day. In the most serious crash in Chesapeake, VA nine students were taken to a local hospital after a school bus ended up in a ditch near Hickory High School.

The bus was taking 45 students to Hickory Middle School, when it went into a ditch at about 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2011, the Virginian-Pilot reported.

The school division said the students were “shaken up a little bit.”

And a bus driver whose school bus hit six parked cars in the parking lot of Bethel High School in Hampton, VA on the morning of Dec. 12 was later charged with reckless driving.

In some cases students who have been hurt in school bus crashes have successfully sued local school boards. In March, 2011, Chesapeake school board agreed to pay $16,000 to a student who suffered neck and back injuries in a school bus accident, the Virginian-Pilot reported
