Three car crash leaves one person in the hospital in Newport News

A three-car accident at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Mercury Blvd, leaves one person in the hospital Monday afternoon.

An 85-year-old driver of a Saturn hit two cars from behind before losing control and landing down an embankment, according to Lou Thurston, a spokesman for the Newport News police department.

Olivia Kokotinis was the 85-year-old driver of the Saturn.  Kokotinis was charged with reckless driving.

The accident is still under investigation.
