A company that installs cameras to catch red light runners is posting dramatic footage of crashes on YouTube to highlight the extent of the problem.

American Traffic Solutions hope the dramatic images of red light runners on YouTube, will “shame people into driving safer,” myFoxPhoenix.com reported.

“I think if they could actually see an accident in front of them, they’d probably be more careful the next time through,” said Don Valicenti of American Traffic Solutions.

Crashes like these ones have to be seen to be believed.

American Traffic Solutions point to the massive annual death toll caused by red light runners. They cause about 900 deaths and 150,000 injuries a year the company says, highlighting its National Stop on Red campaign.

As leading Virginia Beach, VA traffic accident injury attorneys, we have helped a number of victims who have been hurt by red light runners.

Cities such as Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Newport News, VA, are taking the problem very seriously by investing in camera technology.

All of these cities have cameras already except for Norfolk which is set to install cameras at eight intersections in the spring of 2012., the Virginian-Pilot reported.

These key Norfolk intersections are.

- Brambleton and Colley avenues
- Little Creek Road and Halprin Drive
- Hampton and Terminal boulevards
- Chesapeake Blvd. and Little Creek Road
- Virginia Beach Blvd. and Raby Road
- Tidewater Drive and Virginia Beach Blvd.
- Military Highway and Northampton Blvd.
- Brambleton Avenue and St. Paul’s Blvd.
