Newport News Man charged with DUI and hit-and-run after accident

Willie Burston Jr., 53 was charged with drunken driving and felony hit-and-run after an accident on I- 64 in Hampton that left a motorcyclist injured.

Steven Wayne Travis Jr., 33-year-old motorcyclist of Hampton was transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and is in fair condition.

Sunday, July 12 at 1:14 a.m., Travis was riding his motorcycle on I-64 in Hampton when he was struck by a Nissan 250-Z and thrown from his bike Sgt. Michelle Cotten, a spokeswoman for state police, said.  Three hours after the accident Willie Burston called the Hampton Police Department and reported he had “hit some debris”.  After an investigation Burston was interviewed and arrested at his home Cotten said.
