Norfolk, VA Truck Accident Lawyer Report: Tractor Trailer Driver is Killed in Pittsylvania County, VA
By John Cooper, Norfolk, VA Truck Accident Injury Lawyer
In rural Pittsylvania County, Virginia (VA) the driver of a tractor trailer was killed after his truck plunged off Route 29 and into trees.
Officials said the driver of the tractor-trailer whose truck crashed on Jan. 12, 2012, was Jesse Chapman Campbell, 32, of Greensboro, North Carolina (NC). WSET.com reported.
His 2000 Freightliner tractor-trailer was travelling south on Route 29 when it ran off the right side of the road.
According to police the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
While single vehicle accidents don’t always make the headlines they comprise the largest number of accidents in the country – 61 percent in 2009, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
And more than half of the people who were killed on America’s roads in 2010, weren’t wearing seat belts.
It’s not yet known what caused this trucker to leave the highway. Our experienced Norfolk, VA truck accident injury attorneys have reported on how drowsiness and falling asleep behind the wheel can be a major factor in the deaths of truck drivers.
In some cases trucks are very poorly maintained. If this is a factor in a crash the family of a dead truck driver could bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the owner of a company or a manufacturer if a part is defective.
