Safety tips to avoid motorcycle accidents

Motorcycle accidents usually result in much more devastating injuries than other types of motor vehicle accidents.

Here is a list of important motorcycle safety tips suggested by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation:

• Be visible – Make sure you use your headlights both day and night. Be aware of blind spots cars and trucks have. Flash your brake lights when you are slowing down or before you stop.
• Dress for safety – Wear a helmet and eye protection, as well as protective clothing.
• Drive Smart – Be cognizant of changing road conditions. Give other drivers time and space to adjust to you. Know and follow the rules of the road and stick to the speed limit.
• Become familiar with your bike and know how to use it – Get formal training and take refresher courses.
