The DO’S & DON’TS of Talking With Insurance Adjusters

DO
Write down the name, address, and phone number of the adjuster and insurance company
Provide your full name, address and telephone number
Ask the adjuster if there are any witnesses
Make notes of the conversation
Be very general when you discuss your injuries
DON’T
Do not agree to an audio tape recording of the conversation
Do not agree to anything
Do not sign anything
Do not discuss anything but the basic facts of the accident
• Where the accident occurred
• Date and time of accident
• Type of Accident – motor vehicle, slip and fall, etc
Do not answer family questions; you are under no obligation to discuss information about your family.
Do not lie to anyone.
You are not required to give the adjuster the name of your doctor.
